About this session

The UK Government is working to improve cyber resilience across the economy and ensure organisations have the tools and support to protect themselves against cyber threats. As part of this work, it is seeking views on a draft Code which will be explained in this webinar. Responses are invited by 11.59pm on Tuesday 19 March 2024.

This is a fantastic opportunity to ask questions about the proposed Code and DSIT’s call for views.

Greater digitisation to drive the business strategy provides greater opportunities for malicious actors to exploit vulnerabilities in IT systems and disrupt operations, so governing digital and cybersecurity risk effectively is integral to organisations’ competitiveness and business continuity. This requires directors to embrace and engage with cybersecurity, whatever size their organisation, and understand the risk that cyber incidents present to delivery of the business strategy.

Jack Harrigan, Head of Cyber Governance and Accountability at the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), joined us to explore governance in the technology age, the actions directors need to take, and how the government plans to support boards and directors to strengthen their organisations’ cyber resilience.

Jack is part of the Cyber Resilience team that improves resilience to cyber risks across the UK economy. He leads work on embedding cyber into existing corporate governance and business regulations and driving senior leaders to govern cyber risk more effectively. Jack has a decade of experience in government and has previously worked on the UK GDPR and the free flow of personal data.
